Lucia is one of the oldest traditions at Vanta. Year 5 lead the procession through the dark hall, singing, with Lucia at the front wearing a crown of candles.
What happens
The lights go out at 07:45. The procession walks from the library to the hall, the whole school sings, and then everyone has saffron buns and warm milk before lessons start at 08:30.
For families
Parents are welcome to stand at the back of the hall. Please arrive by 07:40 and keep phones in pockets; the candles are the only light, and that’s the point.
